Year 10 Students Speak Out!

Posted on: 7th Jan 2022

In the last week of Autumn Term, 16 of our Year 10 Citizenship students polished their public speaking skills in a Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge workshop.

In the day-long workshop, our students learned how to speak in public and communicate easily, with confidence and enjoyment. Each student started by making a short speech about themself - just 1 minute long. Then they had the opportunity to give another speech on any subject that they felt really strongly about.

The day was great fun and was very interactive, with students learning to think on their feet as they practised their new skills throughout the session. They engaged with enthusiasm, saying the workshop gave them new confidence and skills to express themselves.

Well done to everyone who took part!

You can see lots of photos from the day in the gallery below.

Student Jeta says, ‘I’m really happy to have completed the whole day session. At first I was really scared to speak in front of everyone... however watching everyone do it gave me the confidence to speak.’
