Cabinet Reshuffle
All schools are constituted through a statutory process and governors are selected through a democratic and accountable process. Officers, such as the Chair and Vice Chair are elected by the governing body and serve for a term of office determined by the governors of the school. At Haverstock this is part of the business of the first full governors’ meeting of each year. This meeting took place on Thursday 16th October and as usual the meeting was very focused on Haverstock’s progress as a school.
I would like to congratulate Laura Watkins on her appointment to Chair of Governors. Laura has been Vice Chair for two years and a governor for nearly four. She knows the school well and is ambitious for our future. Jim Mulligan will be Vice Chair alongside Nick Russell.
I would like to draw your attention to Jim Mulligan who has been a governor at Haverstock for twelve years and Chair for more than four. Jim has seen the school through a very significant phase of its development and as Chair has served this community to great effect. He has shown huge intelligence, commitment and courage and has always put the needs of our community at the top of the list. I am sure that Jim’s relocation to Vice Chair will in no way diminish his effect on the school and we look forward to many years of continued support and challenge from him.
You have access to the governing body through the elected Parent Governors; Najat Jamharough, Theresa Lazar, Catherine John and Paul Solieri. They will represent your views to the governors and can be contacted through the school. As well as this you are able to attend our Parent Alliance meetings which take place monthly ( this week on 4th November) and give parents the opportunity to really get involved in the life of the school. The partnership between home and school is an absolutely fundamental one and I would encourage all of you to try to get as involved as you can at any level. If you are unsure about how to contact your representatives please contact us on the school number.
