Back to newsYear 8 and 9 Inspired by Donmar Warehouse Production “HIDE”
Posted on: 28th Jun 2026
On Monday 22 June, we were incredibly lucky to welcome the Donmar Warehouse for their annual School’s Tour, performing their brand-new production HIDE, which all of Year 8 and 9 watched. This play was inspired by the GCSE set text ‘The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde’, and was set in a school in the near-future. It explored the psychological effects of hiding your true self and the pressures of the digital world on teenagers. After the fantastic performance, students were able to ask the playwright and actors questions about the writing, production and rehearsal process. There were some excellent questions asked about the themes of the play, how to become an actor and students even learnt about how the team worked with a magician to create some of the special effects in the play.
Yasin in 9ARP summed the experience up perfectly when he told the actors ‘It was my honour to watch your incredible production, thank you!’
The Donmar Warehouse is able to provide this opportunity to all Camden and Westminster schools thanks to donations. It is so important for all young people to experience cultural events like this, so we are very grateful to the Donmar, and their donors, for providing us with this opportunity. We have lots of exciting work with this theatre coming up, as Year 10 Drama are about to visit their Covent Garden venue to see new play ‘The Guilty’, and next year’s Year 10 class will be starting their ‘Take The Stage’ project in September, where they will perform on this world-famous stage!
