Meet the Haverstock Rap Club

Posted on: 5th Oct 2018

In September our newly–formed Haverstock Rap Club took a trip to meet their peers in South London: the successful Croydon Rap Club who have twice played at Wembley Arena and featured on BBC News.

Our students were impressed to watch and meet the Croydon team, and also gave a great performance of their own. The Haverstock Rap Club are developing fast. They've been practising every day in the music department – at breaks, lunchtimes and after school – and their hard work is already paying off. Inspired by the Croydon rappers, they plan to release some of their original work very soon.

Year 9's Zione says ‘The Croydon Rap Club has some really talented students in it, and now we’re starting our own group and we’ve already gotten quite good.’

The next aim is for Haverstock Rap Club to collaborate with the Croydon team in a live performance at Royal Albert Hall. Our new Head of Music, Mr Turner, says ‘It's an ambitious target. And if they keep up their hard work and great energy, I know they can get there.’
