Geography in Action - Year 12 Fieldwork

Y12 Geography students travelled to Suffolk in June to carry out their A-Level fieldwork. They investigated the impact of second-home ownership and tourism on the area. They also looked at the impact of groynes in managing an eroding coastline in Southwold to support their understanding of Coastal Landscapes.

Students spoke to local people, conducting questionnaires and interviews to research the lived experience of residents as part of their Changing Places topic. As well as traditional methods of throwing an orange into the sea for longshore drift, students also used a drone to fly over the town and capture shots of the coastline.

The Geography department is looking forward to reading some insightful coursework after students have analysed and written up their findings.
